John Vosel (b. 1993) is a Cincinnati-based artist residing in Milford, Ohio. Vosel earned an MFA in sculpture at the University of Cincinnati college of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, and a BFA from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. With a large background in sculpture and fabrication, his current focus is creating paintings on custom built wooden panels.
“My work consists of imagery pulled from popular culture, nostalgic memories, and a touch of humor. I transform this subject matter into unique compositions—making them a reality, solidifying their physical existence. Using traditional and unconventional methods of painting, I investigate the nature of different materials with a sense of creation and destruction. Fascinated by color, texture and design, I love to balance compositions and create harmony on the surface. Attention to detail and well executed craftsmanship are significant in each piece.”
